About
The Legacy of Pulgam Textiles
Our story
Our journey began with a simple yet powerful vision - to redefine the way women experience fashion.
Our History & Beginnings
The story of Pulgam Textiles begins in the mid-20th century with a vision of resilience and craftsmanship. Rooted in humble beginnings, our family migrated to Solapur to build a better future.
1949: The First Loom
The foundation of our textile legacy was laid by Mr. Yambaya Mallaya Pulgam. Having spent years gaining deep, hands-on experience as a dedicated handloom employee, he took a courageous leap of faith. In 1949, with just four handlooms and a heart full of determination, he built the base for what would become an industry benchmark. In those early days, we specialized in exquisitely crafted Handloom Sarees, with our Paras Peti and Japani Kinara designs quickly becoming highly sought-after trademarks of quality. Within just two years, our dedication saw that modest setup double to eight thriving looms.
1967–1968: Birth of a Brand & Factory Expansion
As the years progressed, so did our ambitions. In 1967, under the visionary leadership of Mr Venkatesh Yambaya Pulgam, we stepped fully into manufacturing and commercial production. By 1968, the official Pulgam Textiles Showroom was established, opening our doors directly to families who valued premium craftsmanship.
Scaling New Heights
Between 1973 and 1987, Pulgam underwent a massive technological and infrastructure transformation, expanding from those initial 8 looms to a powerhouse facility operating 104 modern looms in the Solapur M.I.D.C. area. Our focus expanded into manufacturing the iconic, globally recognized Solapuri Chaddars (blankets), premium cotton towels, napkins, and high-quality bedding. Recognizing this monumental contribution to the industry, Pulgam Textiles Showroom received the prestigious "Bhartiya Udyogratna Puraskar" in 2001 for exceptional quality production.
